Marshmallow Pilgrim Hat Treats

Gabe brought treats for his Kindergarten class Thanksgiving party today. These Marshmallow Pilgrim Hat treats are super cute, super fun to make, and super easy {always a great combination.}

All you need is...
marshmallows

milk chocolate chocolate chips

chocolate-striped shortbread cookies

and yellow decorators frosting.

Then...
1. Set the chocolate-striped cookies stripes down on a wax-paper-covered tray, spacing them well apart.

2. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave.
3. One at a time, stick a wooden toothpick into a marshmallow.

4. Dip the marshmallow into the melted chocolate, swirling it around to completely cover the marshmallow.

4. Promptly center it atop a cookie. Using a second toothpick to lightly hold down the marshmallow, carefully pull out the first toothpick.
5. Chill the hats until the chocolate sets, then pipe a yellow decorators' frosting buckle on the front of each hat.

And Voila....

A happy kid with Marshmallow Pilgrim Hat Treats. Seriously, what's better to a kid than chocolate and marshmallows?

That's adorable! It makes me a little jealous because at our preschool and elementary school, you're not allowed to bring homemade treats. Can you believe it? I still can't believe that I won't be able to do the sort of things my mom did for me.

These treats rock!

Actually, our school has that same policy about not bringing homemade treats, but the teachers make exceptions for special days, like birthdays and holidays. So, I guess we just have some great teachers. I'd try asking the teachers at your school if they make those exceptions too. It can't hurt to ask, right?

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of just asking. :-) Our preschool teacher did say that they've asked the licensure people for some sort of approval to have homemade treats for Christmas. So maybe I'll get to do something after all. We'll see next year at public school. I'm glad to hear that worked for you.

p.s. I love the sofa table! And the photo arrangements. Beautiful.

If you guys are ever up this way, I'd pay you to take pictures of the kids. You do such a great job! I don't think either one would do well at the Penney's studio, and a private photog is soooo expensive. You take amazing pics!

Thanks for the complements on the photos...I'd love to take your little guys' photos sometime! Maybe the next time you're down here, or the next time we're up there. We'll have to be in touch :)
